from the State Transportation Commission

We wanted to let you know that the Transportation Commission has launched the Voice of Washington State (VOWS) and we encourage you to join the discussion. A DOWNLOADABLE PRESS RELEASE recently went out to media across the state, as well as to hundreds of partner agencies and stakeholder organizations who will help us get the word out to the public. As someone interested in transportation, we hope you will participate and also help us spread the word to your friends, family, and colleagues to join this unprecedented public input program for transportation!

All one has to do to participate is go to our VOWS web site and sign up: www.voiceofwashingtonstate.org

There are two ways people can participate:

1. They can join the online, regional discussion forums where people can post ideas and comments related to specific transportation questions we pose, and they can also vote on each other’s ideas. There are seven regional forums across the state and people can join as many of them as they like. The ideas and comments that come from these discussion forums will be submitted to you each session for your review and consideration.

2. They can join our statewide survey panel. All one has to do is sign up and they will receive online surveys periodically throughout each year. The data and results from the surveys will be submitted to you each session for your review and consideration.

The goals of this are to generate a robust statewide conversation on transportation, gather statistically valid survey data on opinions and preferences, and grow our statewide survey panel from its current 7,000+ to closer to 15,000+ members. All this input will be reported to the Governor and Legislature at the start of each session so join the Voice of Washington State today and get your ideas, preferences and opinions in front of decision makers.

If you have questions or would like more information just let us know.
