This month’s Sustainable Orcas Island (SOI) meeting is scheduled for November 17, a week earlier than the usual last-Wed date due to Thanksgiving on the 25th. The meeting will be from 5:30 to 7 as usual, in the Orcas Island Public Library.

Phil Heikkinen says the basic agenda will include:
updates and forming a specific food security (or alternative name) group which will focus on seeds and growing food crops;
A presentation by Jared Lovejoy, who will talk about his work on a new change model that he thinks might help us in our progress towards building a sustainable community;
A discussion with Patty Miller, incoming County Council member from Orcas Island, to hear the group’s ideas for how the County can best support the SOI mission.
