Keeping our system running through winter weather
What a weekend of winter weather! Shout out to our terminal staffs and vessel crews for navigating the snow to get to work. Many of our employees put forth great effort, braving the winter weather to shovel snow and salt high-traffic surfaces. And we can’t forget our dispatchers, who worked hard throughout the cold blast to fill all shifts, finding replacements for those who couldn’t make it into work. Their dedication allowed us to keep our system running so riders were able to get where they needed to go safely!

Sailing diverted to get COVID vaccines to Lopez Island
Because of the snow, we operated our severe weather schedules on all routes throughout Presidents’ Day weekend. The change in sailing times meant Washington State National Guard members vaccinating San Juan Islanders against COVID-19 this week would not be able to make it to Lopez Island in time for Monday’s scheduled clinic. We worked with worked San Juan County and diverted a sailing to Lopez to make sure those who signed up could be inoculated.
More than 350 people received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine Monday at the Lopez Center for the Community and Arts.
