A San Juan Deputy responded to a 2-car, non-injury, reportable collision in Friday Harbor. Investigation revealed it was caused by icy conditions. Information was exchanged and a collision report was generated.

An Orcas Island Deputy conducted a welfare check on the 60 block of Rosehip Rd. The subject in question was contacted and an incident report was authored.

A Lopez Island Deputy ticketed a vehicle parked on the snow covered road in front of a No Parking sign near Agate Beach Park.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 30
21-011001 Accident-NonInj 05:05:16 12/30/21
A Lopez Deputy responded to a driver who slid into a ditch. A friend of the driver was able to assist in getting the vehicle back on the road. The vehicle was undamaged and the driver uninjured.

An Orcas Island Deputy conducted a welfare check of a subject on Rosehip Rd. The subject was offered services and assistance but declined any
assistance. An incident report was authored.

A San Juan Deputy took a report of harassment. The caller did not wish to pursue criminal charges, but did wish to petition for a no contact order. The caller was assisted with the process.

An Orcas Island Deputy responded to a disturbance call on the 800 block of Discovery Way. All parties were contacted, and it was determined no crime was committed. An incident report was authored.

A Deputy responded to a walk-in report of a Fraud. The complainant reported that he received a text from a number claiming to be a Wells Fargo Fraud alert. The caller was defrauded out of $1000 and is working with his bank to get refunded. No suspects or workable leads at this time. report made.

Deputies responded to a report of a Prowler in Friday Harbor. One male was arrested for Attempted Criminal Trespass in the First Degree for trying to enter the callers residence and several other charges under another incident. The male was booked into jail and report completed.
21-011022 Traffic Violation 15:15:07 12/30/21
A San Juan Deputy stopped a vehicle for driving recklessly. The driver was arrested and booked for DUI, reckless driving, three counts of intimidating a public servant, possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of controlled substance by a prisoner.
21-011025 Citizen Assist 16:06:20 12/30/21
Lopez Island visitor attempted to drive a Tesla through the unmaintained parts of Lopez Sound Road during a snow storm. The vehicle became stuck. A friendly local attempted to help pull the Tesla with their truck, but the truck slipped into a ditch on the way to help. The situation is ongoing.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of an intoxicated driver that crashed into mailboxes then into a ditch. The suspect was contacted, but due to no DRE in the county PC was not established for DUI. Charges for Negligent Driving 1st were forwarded to the PA’s Office.

An Orcas Island Deputy investigated a stolen vehicle report. The vehicle was located, and a suspect taken into custody. Further investigation revealed the suspect had also burglarized a home on Merrymac Ln. Property was recovered and the suspect booked into jail.

A Lopez Deputy responded to multiple traffic hazard / vehicle related incidents.

A Lopez resident contacted a Deputy regarding a landlord / tenant issue. They were referred to the civil office.

Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a welfare check in the village of Eastsound. The person was located and stated that they did not want or need assistance.

Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a domestic incident. The parties were separated upon arrival. A report was made.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of fireworks. A subject was contacted and became argumentative about lighting fireworks. The subject talked themselves into receiving an infraction for violating county ordinance.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 1
22-000002 Missing Person 00:57:36 01/01/22
Lopez Deputies responded to a missing person call. After a brief search, the person was located. The person, an elderly Lopez citizen, had fallen outside in the freezing weather conditions. Medical aid was administered by Lopez EMS, but the person passed away.
22-000004 Accident-HitRun 10:33:19 01/01/22
A Deputy was dispatched to a Hit and Run in the Friday Harbor area. A parked vehicle was struck sometime in the past three days. No other information at this time. Report taken.
22-000005 Accident-NonInj 10:56:54 01/01/22
A Lopez Island Deputy responded to a report of a vehicle that had slid off the icy road. The vehicle was stuck in the ditch but undamaged. No one as hurt. A passing motorist pulled the vehicle out of the ditch. No further
action necessary.

Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a domestic violence incident. The parties were contacted, an investigation was completed and one individual was arrested for Assault in the fourth degree- domestic violence.
22-000023 Trespassing 10:58:25 01/02/22
A San Juan Deputy was dispatched to a trespassing complaint at the Roche Harbor Resort. The incident was investigated and documented.
22-000028 Traffic Hazard 15:34:50 01/02/22
A Lopez Island Deputy came upon a downed tree, partially blocking Mud Bay Rd. The tree was removed from the road. Within an hour three more trees came down at that location, requiring a public works crew response to clear the hazard from the road.
MONDAY, JANUARY 3
22-000035 Accident-Injury, Traffic 05:32:07 01/03/22
Deputies on San Juan Island responded to a fatal single vehicle collision. The presumed driver, a 42 year old San Juan Island woman was ejected from the vehicle and died.
22-000037 Traffic Hazard 07:54:05 01/03/22
A Lopez Island Deputy was sent to check on a traffic hazard. A tree had fallen blocking the entire road. The tree was removed by a public works crew. No further action was necessary.
22-000039 Assault – Body Force 08:26:43 01/03/22
Two San Juan Island citizens had a verbal dispute over a traffic situation. San Juan Deputies spoke with both parties and determined no crime had been committed. A report was taken.
22-000041 Malicious Mischief 09:17:03 01/03/22
A Lopez Island resident reported damage to the shoulder and ditch along a private lane. The damage was a result of an unknown vehicle getting stuck in the ditch during recent snow events and efforts to free the vehicle from the ditch. No indication of any criminal intent.

A San Juan Island citizen reported finding a lost birth certificate and several other important legal documents. The Deputy assisted in finding the owner and returned the documents.

A Deputy on Orcas responded to a burglary call at an Eastsound business. A report was taken and there are no suspect at this time.
22-000048 Animal at Large 12:12:56 01/03/22
A San Juan Island citizen called to report a dog on a leash outside a business. The citizen was concerned for the dog’s safety considering the weather conditions. By the time the Deputy checked, the dog’s owner had already taken it inside.

Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a non-residential burglary in the 100 block of North Beach Rd. An investigation was conducted and a report was taken. There are no suspects at this time.

A Lopez Island Deputy was called to the school about a dog that had come into the building and was disrupting end of school day activities. The dog was taken home and the owner ticketed for dog at large.

A Deputy responded to a Lopez Island residence on 01/03/2022 for a suspicious circumstance complaint. A report was completed.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 4
22-000067 Accident-NonInj 08:26:15 01/04/22
A Deputy responded to an unknown injury accident on the 1100 block of West Valley Rd. A vehicle crashed into a ditch due to ice on the roadway. No injuries were sustained by the driver. A report was authored.
22-000069 Accident-Injury, Traffic 09:11:07 01/04/22
Deputies on Orcas responded to an accident with injury on Orcas Road. Orcas Fire and EMS flew one person off island and the other two involved in the accident were checked out and cleared. A report was taken after the investigation was completed.
22-000074 Accident-NonInj 10:17:05 01/04/22
A Lopez Island Deputy was called to a non injury motor vehicle crash involving a vehicle that had lost control on black ice and slid off the road. The driver was ticketed for not having a drivers license and driving with wheels off road. The vehicle was pulled out of the ditch and removed.
