15-005164 Traffic Stop 01:08:20 08/26/15 Ray Harvey
On 08/26/15 at approximately 0105 hours a Deputy performed a traffic stop at Crowe Valley Road and West Beach Road, Eastsound. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence and driving with a suspended license. Both driver and passenger were also cited for making false statements.

A Lopez Island Deputy met with a Lopez Island business owner on 08/26/15 regarding a vandalism complaint. The Deputy learned an unidentified person damaged one of the locks for one of the structure’s on the business owner’s property. Nothing was missing from the structure. A report was taken.

A Lopez Island Deputy received a wallet on 08/26/15 from a Lopez Island resident after he found it while walking on Military Road. The Deputy returned the wallet to the owner on 08/26/15. The owner confirmed that no items were missing from his wallet.

Complainant did not want any action taken at this time. Advised him he could attempt to obtain a restraining order on the person he believes is responsible. He said he would think about it. No further information at this time.

On 08/26/15, an Orcas Island woman reported a violation of a protection order. Investigation continues.

On August 26, 2015 at about 1806 hours, a Deputy was dispatched to a store in Eastsound in regards to a shoplifting of over $500 in merchandise. The suspect is a 20’s female. A report was taken.

15-005184 Malicious Mischief 19:10:31 08/26/15 S Johns
On August 26, 2015 at about 1910 hours, I responded to an Eastsound address in regards to vandalism to a vehicle that occurred on Orcas Hill Road public parking lot. No suspect (s) known. A report was taken.

On 08/27/15, a tourist from Ohio reported his rental car had been backed into while parked at a local hotel. Minor damage occurred. Suspect vehicle is unknown.

15-005192 Found Property 10:58:10 08/27/15 T Eades
Complainant states he found item in road, near the Friday Harbor Airport. Item is believed to have fallen off of a motor scooter in the area. Complainant says he checked with local moped rental businesses, and looked around the area for a scooter missing the belt cover; he was unable to locate an owner.

On 08/26/15 at approximately 1330 hours RP arrived at the Sheriffs Office after being advised he had been trespassed from his ex-wife’s house by a friend that stated he had heard that. When he arrived I handed him a letter advising him he was trespassed from his wife’s residence.

A resident of a Friday Harbor assisted living complex reported her necklace missing.

On 8-27-15 at 2227 hours a Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Argyle Ave at Nichols St. The investigation showed that the driver was driving on a suspended license and also had a warrant for driving on a suspended license. The driver was booked into the jail.

On August 27, 2015 at about 2252 hours, a Deputy was dispatched to a US Post Office in regards to a suspicious person going through the recycle bins and taking mail. The person was contacted. The case is under investigation.

On 8/28/15 a Seattle man reported that a truck drove over his guitar at a boat ramp in Eastsound and left.

On 8/28/15 a 78 year old male was found deceased in his home in Eastsound, apparently from natural causes.

A Lopez Island Deputy met with a Lopez Island resident on 08/28/15 and received a found bicycle. The reporting person stated he found then bike while he was on a walk. The bike owner is not currently known. A found property report was completed.

On 8-28-15 at 1737 hours a Deputy received a report of a possible child abuse in Friday Harbor. This incident is still under investigation.

On 08/28/15 a Deputy responded to a reported drunk driver. The deputy saw the described vehicle driving on Olga Road, Eastsound. It was determined the registered owner did not have a valid drivers license and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and driving

On August 28, 2015 at about 2323 hours, Deputies responded to the U.S. Post Office Eastsound in regards to a woman going through the recycle bins again. The woman denied going through the bins this time. The cases are under investigation.

A Lopez Island Deputy responded to a residential burglary alarm on 08/29/15. While travelling to the residence he learned the alarm was cancelled. It was determined that the alarm was activated after a door was blown open by hard winds.

A resident on Stuart Island reports building material deposited on his beach. A deputy will be sent to Stuart to investigate on 06/30/2015.

15-005250 Child Abuse or Neglect 10:44:12 08/29/15 F Menjivar
On 08-29-2015, this deputy responded to a residence in Friday Harbor reference possible child neglect. Case Active at this time.

15-005255 Boating Problem 11:25:46 08/29/15 Rob Nou
On August 29, 2015 at 11:25 a.m. two teenage boys were reported adrift in Mackaye Harbor, Lopez Island on a capsized boat. The boat was being blown NE in gale force winds and rough seas. A Coast Guard helicopter was called to assist. The boys made it to shore safely and were reunited with their families, unhurt.

August 29, a contract employee of the Department of Veteran Affairs was confronted at gunpoint by an occupant of a foreclosed VA home on Lopez Island. The resident told deputies he was defending his home and children when the front door opened from the outside by a man unknown to him.

On August 29, 2015 at about 1830 hours, I was dispatched to an Eastsound resort in regards to a stolen money clip and contents from their room. A report was taken.

On 8-29-15 at 1939 hours a Deputy received a report of a suspicious circumstance in the 500 block of Perry Pl. The reporting party reported that she thought that someone had been in her residence today when she was not home.

A Lopez Island Deputy responded to a possible illegal drug over dose on 08/29/15. The involved person was subsequently transported to the mainland for medical treatment. The investigation continues.

A Lopez Island Deputy received a report of a missing juvenile on 08/30/15. A Washington State Patrol Missing Persons Packet was filled out and submitted.The investigation continues.

On 08/30/15 at approximately 1859 hours Deputies responded to a Hit and Run accident in Eastsound. An unoccupied, parked vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene. The case is being investigated.

August 31, a Lopez Island deputy responded to a report of 3 horses running loose in the area of Fisherman Bay and Dill Rd. The horses were subsequently corralled in a pasture nearby until the owner could retrieve them.

August 31, a Lopez Island deputy was called to a custody dispute involving a 13 year old child on Lopez Island. Both parents were referred back to court for a hearing on the parenting plan.

August 31, a Lopez Island business reported that a customer had left her purse behind. The purse was returned to its owner intact.

A Lopez Island Deputy responded to a residence regarding an unwanted person complaint on 09/01/15. The reporting person stated he asked the unwanted person to leave after they discovered what they believed to be evidence of illegal drug use. The unwanted person departed proper to the Deputy’s arrival.

On Tuesday 09-01-2015 a Stuart Island resident reported gas was drained from his aircraft while it was parked at the Stuart East Airstrip.

On Tuesday 09-01-2015 a citizen turned in a women’s coat that was recovered on a fence next to Dr. Gossom’s office 689 Airport Circle, Friday Harbor, WA. The coat has been logged into evidence.

September 1, a Lopez Island deputy arrested a 25 year old Lopez man on an arrest warrant for Probation Violation. The man was transported to Friday Harbor and held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
