Win a free summer bus pass by telling why you think having a bus on Orcas Island is important.
This summer the Scenic Byway Explorer Bus will be running daily on Orcas Island from June 21st through Labor Day, September 2nd. Write an essay, not more than 250 words, outlining what you as a local see as the value of having a bus on Orcas Island in the summertime, and how you intend to use your bus pass. Free passes will be given for the four best essays, as determined by members of the San Juan Island Scenic Byway Partnership. Essays must be received at the Orcas Island Chamber office or sjiscenicbyway@gmail.com by Monday, June 3rd.
Reducing the congestion of additional cars on the ferry and roads is a goal of the Scenic Byway Explorer Bus project. Visitors are invited to leave their cars behind and jump on the Scenic Byway Explorer Bus to enjoy a car-free experience. By taking a quick survey at www.visitsanjuans.com/scenicbyway they can download a 2-for-1 Explorer Pass, good for a day of exploring on Orcas or San Juan Island. They can even use it to get back to the ferry the next day. Bus schedules and routes are available at www.sanjuantransit.com.
Wow, $5.00 isn’t cheap for a fairly short bus ride… We’ll see if it makes it.
What’s cheap is a FREE pass to use any time you want, daily from June 21st through September 15th. Send in your thoughts about the bus and maybe you’ll win. Passes are good on San Juan Island, too. BTW, the contest deadline is now extended to Monday, June 10th.
