Today, Skagit Public Health was notified of a scam circulating in the community. Scammers are calling individuals posing as a ‘Skagit County Representative’ to sign individuals up for a vaccine appointment- then asking for personal information such as mother’s maiden name or social security numbers to confirm the appointment. Skagit County will never ask for your social security number.
If you receive a call from anyone at Public Health you weren’t expecting, it is best to take a name, hang up and call back 360-416-1500 to confirm that you are speaking with a Public Health employee. If you have received a fraudulent phone call, such as the one described above, or believe you have been a victim of a COVID-19 related scam, please report this to the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) either online or by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI. You are also encouraged to call the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (HHS OIG) either online or by calling 1-800-HHS-TIPS.
