Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., throughout the school year

— from Kim Kimple, Orcas Park and Rec —

Every Monday and Wednesday youth runners ranging from 7 – 13 years old lace up in the Orcas Island Park and Recreation office to head out on trail runs throughout the beautiful Eastsound area. Mike Kulper leads the group on ~2 mile runs, finishing back at the office, where everyone enjoys a snack. The group tracks miles as they go, working their way towards goals and prizes.

We are still looking for adults and teens to act as the ‘tail’ or sweep, and others who can stay with the middle-level runners throughout the run. All volunteers must be able to pass a background check. Send us an email or stop by if you’d like to join.

Interested Orcas Island High School students: Hours volunteered through Orcas Island Park and Recreation District DO count toward your community service hours.

To register, visit: https://apm.activecommunities.com/oiprd/Activity_Search/599.

Hope to see you on the trails.
