Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) this week filed paperwork with the Washington Secretary of State’s office for his re-election campaign for Congress.

“I am proud to be a lifelong Democrat and to call the 2nd District home. I look forward to sharing my vision for our path forward: a focus on more jobs, more skills, more financial security, and more opportunity,” said Rep. Larsen. “Let’s talk about how to grow the clean energy economy and establish Washington’s 2nd District as a center for renewable energy innovation; increase access to education, including apprenticeships and adult basic education; provide students and families with financial relief; and help the military and their families thrive.”

Rep. Larsen was born and raised in Arlington, Washington. His dad worked as a lineman for the Snohomish County Public Utility District. His mom stayed at home full-time raising Rick and his seven brothers and sisters. Rick and his wife Tiia have two sons, Robert and Per. They represent the fifth generation of the Larsen family to call this area home.

“The value of a dollar and the importance of hard work were lessons I learned early in life,” added Larsen. “With that many siblings, working together was a necessity and finding common ground just a part of growing up. We took care of each other, and knew that giving back to our community was a must. Now my wife and I are instilling those same values of hard work, giving back, and taking care of those who need help in our children. Those values drive me to serve our community and run for Congress.”

The re-election campaign has already built significant momentum, with kick-off events held throughout northwest Washington earlier this month. Volunteers have joined Rep. Larsen in making calls and knocking on doors to get out the vote in their communities. Already, more than 300 individuals and local organizations have already pledged their support for Rep. Larsen.
