||| FROM ANDREA COHEN for ORCAS ISLAND LIBRARY |||
For June’s Art In the Library exhibit, the Orcas Island Library will feature the quilts of Elena Battles.
Elena is a Deer Harbor resident who has been quilting for 15 years. For this show, she’s chosen her most colorful quilts to celebrate June as Pride Month and the joyful start of summer on Orcas. In addition to her own work, Elena has included three special quilts from her collection that were made by others.
In her own words, “Quilting is a tradition passed on through generations, through friends, and through community. I’m proud to reflect that tradition in this display.”
Another of Elena’s quilts, currently on display in the Children’s area, is being raffled off with proceeds to benefit the Library.

Thanks to Andrea and Carol for your help in prepping me and the quilts to show! It’s been a wonderful experience. I appreciate you and the library team for providing the opportunity to me and others each month.
