Orcas Rec’s summer programs continue next week with classes in photography and pottery, and a summer day camp for 3- to 6-year olds which runs all week long.
Photography for Teens: What the Camera Sees –Learn how to use a camera creatively during a photography class for teens, Monday, August 10 from10:00 to 3:00. Bring your own digital camera if you have one. Call the Orcas Island Recreation Program (376-5339) to register, or online at www.orcasrec.org. For ages 12-18. The cost is $20 and the instructor is Baird Nuckolls.
Boys and girls ages 3-6 will get together for fun at the annual Orcas Rec Program camp. The camp includes outside & inside activities, games, stories, puzzles, music, building, and playing with new friends. Snack will be provided. Registration can be for the week or by the day. Monday-Friday, August 10-14 (9:30-12:30) at Salmonberry School. The cost is $65 a session or $17 a day. Call the Orcas Rec. Later in the week, on Friday, Aug. 14, children ages 6-15 are invited to create pottery on the wheel or by hand with help from experienced potters at The Right Place Pottery Tuesday, August 11 from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants will also play at the beach Participants may come back to paint their creations at their leisure without extra cost. The cost is $15. Call the Orcas Island Recreation Program (376-5339) to register.
