Saturday, March 9 at 10 a.m. at the Port of Orcas (Eastsound) Airport
The Library Board of Trustees will have a Work Session at the Eastsound Airport Meeting Room, 147 Schoen Lane, Eastsound, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The purpose of the meeting is to:
- develop the process and materials for communicating with the community about a library expansion;
- to develop plans for securing funding for the project;
- to discuss ongoing operations after the completion of the project.
This is an open public meeting, although there is no public comment during the meeting itself. You may present written comments to the Board, through the Library Director, prior to the meeting.

I am disappointed to hear that there will not be public comments at the meeting as it defeats the purpose of listening to the Board and for them to not hear from the public at the same time.
Please reconsider
I’m curious why the library is considering expanding again, and why now. Are there data or analyses available for the public to review?
The discussion about adding onto the building is in its early stages. I encourage anyone to contact me at the Library for further information.
The Library will soon be very emphatically inviting public involvement, which is essential to this process. The purpose of this or any work session is for the Board to work on specific items during very limited time together. Nevertheless, assuming time permits, the President does plan to invite brief public comment at this session.
As always, anyone can contact me and/or Board President Alan Lichter with questions or comments.
I beg of your board, as a long time islander. Please do not ask our community for more money.
I watch every day as people loose their jobs, businesses, homes and have to leave our island. Please no more guilt for taxes….Lets wait, keep what we have work with it and not be greedy…
As a member of the community, if I go to a public meeting I like to be able to make comments after I have listen to the board’s position on the issue. Why do we need an expansion during these uncertain financial times?
