We have great new details to share about our Picnic…

Please join us for a fun and social time, as we gather together to eat, create, socialize and maybe see a wee folk or two!

It turns out that the acorn elves and a few gnomes are making a special appearance at our woodland themed picnic this year. As opposed to faeries who can be pretty mischievous, elves are friendly garden folk who just want to help. They are pretty excited to join us in the fun. Elsa, the playful Orcas Acorn Elf, has high expectations that there will be a good turnout. Let’s not disappoint!

And they are asking for our assistance. They’ve been trying to track down a rare garden ally, the sharp-tailed snake said to live in the gardens of Orcas island. So, Elsa has invited Christian Oldham from local ecology authority, Kwiaht, to tell us about a citizen science project underway involving these allusive creatures and how to identify them. Lore has it that they eat slugs, so we definitely need to welcome them into our gardens, but we need to find them first! Let’s give them some help!

Elsa says that everyone attending will take home a magical lupine plant which will give them good luck in the garden. She is hoping everyone participates in crafting their own woodland elf and entering the raffle for a delightful ceramic garden decoration or a native plant. AND wholehearted gratitude will be shared for a great year!

She requests that you bring a sweet or savory potluck dish to share that serves six as the elves are especially hungry at this time of the year. Plates, utensils, drinks and cups will happily be provided. Membership forms will be on hand should you want to bring a guest!

THIS WILL BE A GARDEN CLUB PICNIC TO REMEMBER! WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
