||| FROM BRIAN MOSS, for ORCAS ISLAND COMMUNITY CHURCH |||
The word “selah” comes from the Psalms which were often sung. It was most likely a musical descriptor for a rest or an instrumental bridge or improvisation between sung verses.
For twenty years, musician/composer Jeff Johnson has crafted and led the Selah Service for churches, retreat centers and pilgrimage groups around the world. Selah is comprised of hymns, choruses, instrumentals intertwined with readings and prayers from the Psalms and other Scriptural passages culminating in ten minutes of silent prayer.
We invite you to join us for this unique contemplative time of reflection and worship. Two other Selah services will be offered on July 25 and August 29. For more information go to arkmusic.com and orcaschurch.org.
