||| FROM ORCAS ISLAND GARDEN CLUB |||

Wednesday, November 11th, 10 am

(at the Orcas Center or by Zoom)

COME AT 9:30 AM (just before the program) for social time, and remember to bring something for the Sharing Table!

Please join the Orcas Island Garden Club on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, as we welcome Linda Ann Vorobik. In this presentation, Linda Ann includes beautiful landscapes, wildflower closeups, and botanical watercolors of the plants and from the places that Linda has encountered throughout the west. She uses this imagery as a way to weave through the less enchanting story of how plants are named, and why the names change.

Linda Ann Vorobik is a botanist, professor, and botanical illustrator. Throughout her 40+ year career, Linda Ann has seen plant names change and even change back again. Most of us have learned that the scientific binomial is more reliable than the common name given to a plant, but with the storm of taxonomic revisions and resulting name changes, many of us have had doubts! But do not fear, this is science in action.
