||| FROM MEGAN METCALF for COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER |||
The Orcas Community Resource Center (OCRC) invites you to join them for an educational lecture, Building a Stable Community, at the Orcas Island Public Library. This discussion will explore the impact of trauma, systemic barriers, and life challenges that prevent individuals from securing essential resources such as housing, food, and healthcare.
This event will highlight how adversity, including mental health struggles and difficult life events, can disrupt access to these basic needs, affecting physical, emotional, and relational well-being. Through a trauma-informed lens, the lecture will focus on understanding these challenges with compassion and offering approaches rooted in healing, empowerment, and resilience.
Speakers will share insights on how the Resource Center’s services support people on their journey toward stability and well-being, providing compassionate care that honors each person’s experiences.
Featured speakers include:
-
Hugh Grant, LICSW, Mdiv, psychotherapist
-
Suzette Lamb, LPC-S, LCPC, LMHC, psychotherapist
-
Erin O’Dell, Executive Director of the Orcas Community Resource Center
Please join the Resource Center for this important conversation on how we can create a safer, more supportive community for everyone.
