— from Mary Ryan —

Music in the Park has been extended this season for one more performance, Sunday, September 3 from 5 – 7 p.m., featuring singer-songwriter, Mary Lydia Ryan of Seattle, with bassist Trent Wagner.

Here is what the press has had to say about Mary and her music:

“Ryan is elegant and graceful with a voice that rises to dizzying heights.” –Tom Scanlon, The Seattle Times

“Ryan’s voice is a lovely soprano instrument. Her songs have that mix of Victorian floral luxury and a post Kate Bush sense of drama that might remind you of Sarah McLachlan or Tori Amos. Wistful songs with occasional small surprises.” –Dan Maryon, Option Magazine

[Diaphanous] is “a jazz-accented collection [focusing] on Ryan’s register leaping voice. It’s a mostly successful formula, with Ryan recalling femm-pop heroes…such as Tori Amos and Kate Bush.” ——-Richard Martin, The Seattle Weekly
