–from the Orcas Medical Foundation —
The community is invited on Tuesday, April 26 at 2 p.m. in the Eastsound Fire Hall, to attend the Orcas Medical Foundation’s (OMF) Annual Meeting and report to the community.
Keynote speaker at the meeting will be Christine Martin, a Registered Nurse and Executive Director of Airlift Northwest. Her presentation will provide an in-depth overview of Airlift Northwest’s history, its expertise of pilots and critical care nurses and how it will be working to serve Orcas Island residents even better in the future. She will also outline life saving skills and safety tips to help us better prepare ourselves in the event of an emergency requiring medical air transport from Airlift NW. Martin has served as Executive Director of Airlift NW since 2008 as well as the Transfer Center, Community Careline, Medcon and Strategic Outreach. Previously, she was with UW Medical Center Pediatrics, then Harborview Medical Center Emergency Department as staff nurse for 10 years, then manager/director of Emergency Services for 23 years at Harborview.
Also planned is the opportunity for attendees to see the helicopter inside and out, as well as meet the pilot and nurse who handle everything from life-saving advanced cardiac life support to neonatal resuscitation, all while flying patients to the most advanced care available.
The Orcas Medical Foundation, a non-profit organization, was established 60 years ago to ensure that high-quality medical care and information is available to all members of our community.
