— from Gretchen Krampf —
I just received word from Seattle that our nomination of Nawt-sa-maat for the next ferry’s name made the first round cut. I am the initiator of this grassroots effort to name the new ferry. Exciting News!
Here is a link to the article in the Seattle Weekly.
I am the Director of New Stories’ Thriving Salish Sea Project and our organization is an ally of the Nawt-sa-maat Alliance. Our Project’s focus is to engage, weave and support individual, community and organization leaders and initiatives that are building thriving resilient communities across the Salish Sea.The Nawt-sa-maat Alliance (download attached) is led by Jon Ramer and Chief Phil Lane Jr, and others. They are bringing together many allies, in the US and Canada, to protect the Sacred Salish Sea. There are several events planned over the next few weeks.
The final selection will be made in November.

What is the meaning of the name??
One house. One heart. One prayer.
United in power to protect the sacred.
