The Nautilus Book Awards, now in its 12th year, is seeking individuals interested in joining our Orcas Island team of “readers” for the purpose of reviewing and evaluating new book entries in the process of selecting our annual Silver & Gold winning titles.

The ideal candidates will be avid readers with a high-level of discernment in areas of grammar, word usage, punctuation, story and content stucture, and general editing skills. Backgrounds in English, literature, writing and/or editing are most valued.

Nautilus staff will conduct  trainings in the carefully developed assessment process, and new readers will work together with an experienced reviewer in order to become familiar with the review and evaluation process.

There will be a traning workshop on a Saturday morning in October (TBA), and the reading will begin in November and continue through February.

The people who assist with this book award project are basically volunteers who receive a stipend—and a few nice books to add to your library, but the reading is interesting and can be rewarding and fun.

The Nautilus Readers are pivotal to the integrity and success of this prestigious international awards program. “We need and value your participation,” says Nautilus founder Marilyn McGuire.

Qualified persons who are interested, please contact  McGuire at marilyn@nautilusbookawards.com, sending an email containing any former experience in reviewing, writing, editing – etc.. Nautilus will make contact in the next few days.
