Sunday, Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. at the Orcas Museum on North Beach Road

From the Orcas Island Historical Museum

With the coming of the quieter season, the Orcas Island Historical Museum will be sponsoring a series of monthly gatherings which they have dubbed “History Night,” an evening when one or two ‘old-timers’ will be on hand to tell stories and answer questions about what life was like in days gone by on these islands.  First on the schedule will feature Abby Rueb and Virginia (Gow) Dalley and will take place at the Orcas Museum as a “History Night Matinee” on the afternoon of Sunday November 20 at 3 p.m.

Abby is the daughter of Charlie Arnt, a movie and television character actor whose real love in life was farming.  He purchased and developed Driftwood Ranch in 1950 and gradually moved his family here from Los Angeles as he retired from the entertainment industry.

Virginia Dalley will be coming over from Bellingham, and is the daughter of George Gow who owned Orcas Lumber. Her family moved here from New York City in 1948.  Hot apple cider will be served in the heated Main Exhibit Hall of the Orcas Museum.

Donations of any amount will be gladly accepted at the door. Call 376-4849 for more information.”
