Do you have pets?

Yes, we have a 5 year old German Shepard named Mia that is full of energy. We love her so much and I am so grateful that she keeps me so active.

Any favorite hobbies or interests outside of work?

I really love anything outdoors. I grew up on a small farm and was always outside playing with the animals. I love fishing, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, and biking; just to name a few. I also really like to read, cook, and paint.

What kind of music do you like?

I like all types of music. What I listen to varies from day to day.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was very young, I wanted to be a Veterinarian; until I learned that it meant I would have to operate on the animals. Then I wanted to be a teacher just like my mom, then an Ornithologist (study of birds); and the list continues from geologist to race car driver. In the end, I found my calling by working with children.

What lessons has your work life taught you?

The biggest take-away I’ve had while in the workforce is patience and understanding. It’s important to meet people where they’re at and work from there.

If you could do anything now, what would you do? Why?

I would travel the world to experience all the beauty of it, and taste new and amazing food. I have been inspired by all the cooking shows I’ve watched.

Did you enjoy school?

I did really like school growing up. My mother was a 6th grade teacher, and so education was always a big part of my life. I enjoyed learning new things, and always tried to challenge myself.

Did you ever see yourself living on an island?

No, I didn’t think I would ever be living on an Island, but I’m very excited for this new chapter of my life and the adventures I will have here.

What do like the most about living on Orcas?

I love the atmosphere on the island. Everyone is so nice and inviting; you’re always greeted with a smile.
