— from Madie Murray —
The community is invited on Tuesday, May 12 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Eastsound Fire Hall, to learn of the Medical Foundation’s accomplishments during the past year and hear Dr. Thomas Montine, Director of the UW Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and Pacific Northwest Udall Center of Excellence for Parkinson’s Disease Research discuss “Precision Medicine for Alzheimer’s Disease.”
His presentation will focus on the science of the aging brain, dementia and other neurodegenerative disease. Dr. Montine will also help us reframe our ideas of normal brain aging and degenerative brain disease, and discuss leading-edge efforts to identify pre-symptomatic phases that begin years before a cognitive impairment diagnosis and opportunities to intervene and slow down or prevent dementia and disease.
The Orcas Medical Foundation (OMF) is a non-profit organization founded 59 years ago to ensure that high-quality medical care and information is available to all members of our community.
