Mandy Nigretto, with her mom making appointments, styles Monique Gincig's hair at Hair Haven

Mandy Nigretto styles Monique Gincig's hair at Hair Haven. Mandy's mom, Binka, makes appointments in the background.

At Mandy’s Hair Haven, “Relax and Enjoy” is her logo.

Located at the new liquor store building on the corner of Prune Alley and Rose Street, Mandy Nigretto’s new business opened without fanfare earlier this month.

She started out at The Hair Salon and then worked at Salon Mir Toi, but this year, Nigretto decided “it was time to be out on my own.”

She wanted to create “a quiet, serene place that was neat and uncluttered — that represents beauty to me.

“It goes with my name — Hair Haven. I want people to come in and have a nice place to be quiet, to talk or not. I like the quiet one-on-one with my clients.

Mandy’s husband, Charlie, backed her all they way. “He said ‘Go for it!’ and I haven’t been scared at all. I’m busy and excited and happy to be in this spot.”

Her mother, “Binka” Nicol and D.D. Glaze help out with appointments, and Hair Haven is a full-service hair salon, except for weddings and “up-do” hairstyles.

Nigretto is a 1985 graduate of Orcas  Island High School. She and her husband Charlie have three children — Alexa, 20, Tyler, 17 and Bella, 12.

Nigretto can be reached at 376-7376 or at TheNigrettos@centurytel.net
