THIS WEEKEND AT ORCAS CENTER
Due to COVID Precautions, the following guidelines will be followed
for all events at Orcas Center until further notice:
Advance ticket sales only:
There will be no box office attendant prior to the performance
Proof of vaccination will be required at the door for ages 11+
Masks will be required inside of Orcas Center
These shows will be socially distanced with assigned seating
These guidelines may change in accordance with government regulations

Private events will be allowed to set their rules around social distancing, mask and vaccination proof provided they comply with all state and county regulations


Cinderella (The Met): On Screen
Saturday, February 5th at 1pm (Moved from Jan 22nd)
A storybook kingdom. Pandolfe, a country gentleman, has married Madame de la Haltière, an imperious countess. She and her daughters, Naomi and Dorothy, bully Pandolfe’s daughter from his first marriage—known as Cinderella.
Laurent Pelly’s storybook staging of Massenet’s Cendrillon, a hit of the 2017–18 season, is presented with an all-new English translation in an abridged 90-minute adaptation, with mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard as its rags-to-riches princess. Maestro Emmanuel Villaume leads a delightful cast, which includes mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo as Cinderella’s Prince Charming, soprano Jessica Pratt as her Fairy Godmother, and mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe and bass-baritone Laurent Naouri as her feuding guardians.

Sunday, February 6th at 2pm
Locarno incorporates music from Columbia, African Sukous, Mexican Marimba Music, Venezuelan Joropo and Brazilian Forro Music. Perhaps where the band shines the most is in the live shows which features Tom Landa on jaranas and guitars, Kalissa Landa on violin, Robin Layne on marimba, congas and timbales, Pedro Mota on guitar an vocals, Aaron McKinney on bass, Liam MacDonald on drums, congas and pandero, Mark D’Angelo on trumpet and Nick La Rivere on trombone.

ORCAS CENTER – COVID UPDATES
With COVID’s new variant running through our community, we thought it would be best to let you know how Orcas Center is moving through this next phase of the pandemic:
Cancelled Events:
  • Art Unlocked (Community Art Show) – Originally scheduled for January 28th
  • Amelia Lukas – Originally scheduled for January 29th
  • The Debussy Trio – Originally scheduled for February 4th
We are attempting to reschedule events where possible and will post new dates on the website and through this newsletter.

Delayed Hiring:
Orcas Center is still hiring TWO new staff members in 2022: A Customer and Event Support Specialist, and a Production Assistant. Interested applicants are welcome to submit their letter of interest and resume (click on the links for full details). We don’t currently have an anticipated start date for either role, but we are interested in connecting with anyone looking to join our organization!

Staff Availability:
Orcas Center staff is still working hard behind-the-scenes on various projects and community initiatives. Currently there are no set office hours. Email may be the best way to reach the staff during this time, as they may be working from home.
