O Canada, we can see thee

By wasakalobo

The Voyageurs’ tenacity
Became its DNA
Thus toughness and audacity
That’s Canada today
For sure he’s never heard of it
The U.S.’ Grievance King
Nor does he get Canadians’ wit
Humor is not his thing
No other nation is as close
Yet know-nothings prevail
With world knowledge so comatose
It makes one want to wail
If they don’t even understand
Our dear friends to the north
What hope is there for our land
To lead the world henceforth
The whining White House bully hates
Diversity at home
And even more beyond our gates
Where foreign speakers roam
Bilingualism is suspect
To xenophobes like Trump
Devoid of cultural respect
His own syntax a dump
Of incoherent diatribes
Illiterate and dense
His mastery of toxic vibes
Doesn’t make any sense
O Canada, we can see thee
Our glowing hearts extend
Across our common Salish Sea
We’ll always be your friend
