Since Turtleback was opened to hikers, dogs got to tag along as well, and if you could name the NUMBER ONE problem up there… it is unleashed dogs.  We all know more people than not do not adhere to leash laws.

Ruth Dougherty, the Land Bank steward, said herself that the problem is “chronic”.  I love dogs, but I do not like the arrogance many dog owners display in these situations.

Their dogs need exercise, they need exercise, but they are too lazy or whatever to train their dogs to walk mindfully on a leash.  So, they get twenty feet from the parking lot and let the hounds loose to defecate, race after any living thing they can–the very thing we are supposed to be protecting up there, as well as harass other unsuspecting people on the trail with dogs, possibly ON a leash, bikes or horses.

I say suspend all dogs on Turtleback as they have had their chance to demonstrate their respect for Turtleback, and it is only getting worse.  Take them to the off leash dog park… we’ve heard so much about.
thank you,
