Certainly a widely respected and influential group but I’m trying hard to get my arms around what difference either the passage or declination of the proposals is going to make for “better government”. Nothing that came out of the group had anything to do with better government. Rather, the suggested changes merely recommended we try a different way to manage the same government we have had for years. Rolling everything back 5 years every 5 years is hardly progress and isn’t that what we are looking for? How about we ask the Council (however many there are and however they are elected) to report to their district annually their achievements in a new self administered program called “Quality Control For Better Government” and attach a method to do “Performance Reviews” by the electorate. Fail, and your chair is on the next ballot! A lot us live in this paradise who lived, worked and retired with just that promise hanging overhead. Why not the Council?
