Dear Editor,
I urge readers to vote in favor of the park and rec levy. There is no other good source of funding. This levy will open up amazing opportunities and the good leaders of the program will offer something for all ages.
San Juan Island has had a successful park and rec district for over 25 years. Now it’s time to make it happen on Orcas Island. Vote yes!

In every study of costs to the public, support of civic organizations that encourage fair play, exercise, outdoor activities and appreciation of nature pay for themselves.
While I personally have no children, I support Parks and Rec because they provide a healthy, attractive way to spend youthful days, as well as attract the attentions of healthy engagement of the enthusiasm of youth which occasionally overflows into non-productive activities.
Ask any Sheriff’s department about the cost save by helping just one youngster from falling into behavior due to lack of alternatives, that the Parks and Rec provide. I agree.
Vote Yes, emphatically. You’ll save tax dollars.
Can you give more info on the levy,or some links, please? For the “head in the sand” crowd.(I’ve been depoliticized since moving to the island.)
