||| FROM KIM SECUNDA |||

Today I was at the clinic and a woman thought she needed a referral to get her shot from Rays. It takes a month to get a Dr. appointment and the Rays vaccine waitlist is deep into November . This sets vaccination back to  average 2 months. if the perception is to  first ask your Dr.  which is public  perception we need to correct that.
It is alarming that the clinic went along with this .
The Rays answer line has no COVID instructions other than directing to online applications for appointment. There is no signage anywhere, which is again a failure to the vunerable population who are not an online generation. I talked with the pharmacist, she  confirmed  no referral needed, will bring  worries to Rays attention and work to clear up confusion.
I hope you too can.
In my work until am seeing this problem consistently. This is a gap that needs to be addressed. We need more ways to get vaccinated. We need clear education and outreach.
We may need to suggest off island vaccination if we can’t handle the  local need on a timely manner.  We need to educate the clinic, and general public.
