Today is “Public Health Thank You Day,” a day to recognize the hard work and resilience of the public health (PH) workforce. I would like to thank San Juan County PH staff, their co-workers and volunteers who worked together this year to promote and protect the health of all islanders. I thank especially, Mark Thompkins and our local Board of Health for their clarity, leadership and good judgement at the interface of the common good and individual interests.

I heartily agree with you, Tom, that our public health workers are serving us all very well not just in this pandemic period but also every day to help keep us safer and healthier. Thank you all for all you do!
