||| FROM THOM CARNEVALE |||
LAST NIGHT I HAD A NIGHTMARE.
YOU KNOW – WHEN YOU ARE STARTLED INTO AN UNREASONABLE AWAKE.
FOR BLIND SECONDS, I SHUFFLED BETWEEN PANIC, DESPERATION AND THE FULL THROTTLE AWAKE MODE.
NO, IT WAS NOT AN ATHLETIC CLUB MOMENT – WHEN ADRENALINE FLOWS FREELY, IGNITING PASSION FOR ANOTHER DAY OF LIFE’S GIVINGS AND TAKINGS.
THE NIGHTMARE —
LOOKING OUT MY WINDOW I NOTICED A FLASHING LIGHT ATOP MT. CONSTITUTION. NO, IT WAS NOT THE TOWERS. IT WAS A FLASHING NEON SIGN. INITIALLY, IT WAS DIFFICULT TO MAKE OUT, I GRABBED BINOCULARS MADE OUT THE WORDS, ‘RICK’S DINER.’
COULD IT BE? COULD IT BE?
AT FIRST, I STEPPED BACK, WONDERING WHETHER I HAD DRIFTED INTO AN AUGMENTED REALITY STATE. THEN, REALIZING IT WAS INDEED REAL, I CATAPULTED OUT OF BED GRASPING MY BALLOT.
SUBSUMED BY A WHITE LIGHT AND HOPE, I PICKED UP MY PEN – MARKING CINDY WOLF AND RYAN PALMATEER FOR COUNTY COUNCIL.

Good that you were able to let us all know why your chosen candidates are qualified for the job. Here’s hoping other voters do a little more research beyond simply waking up.
Rude
Oh Justin … a little humor does us all good. Thanks Thom. And Thom has does his homework and has outstanding reasons for voting for these two candidates. Let us hope that they will. We would be lucky, really lucky to have Ms.Wolf be our rep on the council.
That’s funny Thom… being from the Telluride area I can see the correlation.
Thom I enjoy your humor but this voting thing is not a joke. I take my vote seriously. I do my homework and I make a decision. My vote is not cast to the candidate because of their gender, religion or political party. My vote goes to the best person for the job. Ricks accomplishments are too long to list and they are so that all people in the islands will have a better life. I have served myself in this community for years. I’ve been around and I know who I can trust. We are so lucky that Rick is willing to serve us again. He has my vote.
Donna, a little humor in treacherous times, please don’t begrudge. My decision was based on solid research. SJC is moving in a direction that a majority opposes. We need and want thoughtful, calm leadership. Too many resort communities across the country have lost their ambience and community because outside special interests have mangled their well being, the special interests thrusting a development at any cost mantra into the political sphere. Please don’t begrudge those of us who want to preserve and protect the islands we love with our hearts and minds. I believe Cindy and Ryan are best equipped to keep us vibrant and prosperous without unchained development and speculation. I respect your opinion, I hope you respect mine.
There is no hubris in my position of observer (except maybe in using the word “hubris”). I can read every comment as civil and requiring no blowback.
My question would be, with so many nightmares, how to choose?
Yes, by all means, in with the nwe and out with the old.
I am proud to join all in supporting Cindy for County Council. Cindy’s ability to grasp and tangle with difficult issues is an attribute few have. I voted for Rick in 2016, but the Republican endorsement has given me pause. Yes, experience can estrange politicians from reality. There have been monumental changes in SJC in the last eight years. Cindy has an understanding of the change occurring in our beloved SJC. A strong adherent of those left behind Cindy will listen carefully and act with the best interests of the community in mind. On to victory!
