I am writing as a private citizen in support of Heather Lee for San Juan County Auditor.
The Auditor’s Office plays an important role in maintaining accurate records, protecting public resources, and serving residents with professionalism and transparency.
Heather brings proven experience from her time as deputy auditor with San Juan County, including the dedication, integrity, and careful attention needed to this work. Her experience in the office gives her the insight to provide continuity, improve systems, and strengthen transparency.
When accounting support for local special-purpose districts was reduced by our current auditor, Heather stepped up to provide guidance and assistance. She helped review accounting systems, ensure proper practices were implemented, and coordinated with the State Auditor’s Office to identify gaps in state statutes.
This experience demonstrates the competence, collaboration, and reliability the position requires.
I believe San Juan County deserves an auditor who listens to the community, values accountability, and approaches the position with fairness and responsibility. Heather has earned my trust and support, and I encourage my fellow voters to elect Heather Lee as Auditor.

After last night’s League of Women Voters forum in Friday Harbor I am convinced that Heather Lee is the right person at the right time to reorient the Auditor’s Office to meet pressing needs in the licensing and recording window open times and restoring overall employee morale. She is a person who has held every position in the Auditor’s Office and stayed true to her strong sense of what is right and what is not in responding to public needs and office team function. She stood on her principles and resigned last March after trying to effect change, but met with resistance and was unable to do so, under the leadership of Natasha Warmenhoven, She speaks very effectively from lived experience and is able to explain technical issues clearly without long explanations.
We need her. She is very impressive and we are so fortunate to have her as a candidate. She has my vote for the important position of County Auditor.
Heather most certainly has my vote too for San Juan County Auditor.
