— from Walt Corbin —
It is a fault in our society that most of us don’t get involved with local issues unless we perceived we are getting gored. Adding to that is the fact, many are just stressed out making a living.
But we need citizens to act as watchdogs of these various boards and committees. Not doing so a few years back cost our community thousands of dollars and deprived us of valuable light industrial land at the airport.
I cannot endorse a more faithful and rational person to represent our community than Pierrette Guimond, who is running for Port Commissioner. As they say she will “have your back” on cost and consequential issue that are detrimental to Orcas.
Please consider casting your vote for her in November.

Thank you Walt. Pierette is a grand trouble maker, the best kind. She is without guile, no hidden agendas. And a very trustworthy watchdog.
Well said, Walt; I couldn’t agree more; we need good watchdogs. Pierrette has attended every Port meeting since July 2018. She asks good questions, is savvy, smart, knowledgeable, dedicated, commonsense, fearless and not easily intimidated. One thing I admire is that she doesn’t flip-flop; her position has been honest and consistent.
Pierrette would stand up for fairness. She knows regulations and RCWs, proper protocol of how taxing district meetings are conducted. She understands what is fiscally responsible, and what isn’t. She’s lived on Orcas a long time and loves this place as we do, enough to fight for it and for her electorate.
