||| FROM JIM BIDDICK |||
As you all know, I have been doing taxes at the Senior Centers for free for a number of years.
These last few days I have gotten calls from clients saying they got a letter from the IRS saying they have a credit coming and to contact the following number. I have gone back two years on some of the returns and cannot find a number that matches the amount in the letter.
I suspect that this is a scam and if the person calls the number they will be asked to give their bank account number to receive the credit.
I can’t find anything online that refers to this scam so it might be a new one that is going around.

Jim,
I suggest that if you are a registered tax agent, you get your clients’ permission to forward copies of those letters to the IRS to determine their authenticity. If it’s a scam, the use of the mails triggers serious federal interest.
Many thanks,. A very good warning.
Thanks, Jim.
Thank you, Jim. I appreciate the heads-up.
