— from Karen Blinn for Island Sinfonia —

On Sunday, April 28, Island Sinfonia will present their annual spring concert at the Orcas Center at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available through the box office.

This year’s program will feature flautists Linda Slone and Sarah Ogmundson in Quadro by Telemann, and cellist Jen Utter in Mozart’s Ronda alla Turca. Other pieces include the March for the Turkish Ceremony by Lully; the second movement of Rosamunde by Schubert; Five Instrumental Movements by J.S. Bach, although we are only playing three; Libertango for Wind Quintet by Piazolla, and a piece for our brass ensemble.

Island Sinfonia is comprised of instrumentalists from Lopez, Orcas, Shaw and San Juan islands and is directed by conductor Jim Shaffer-Bauck. Island Sinfonia is open to all musicians, including students. Please talk to any of the instrumentalists following the concert if you are interested in joining.
