ANACORTES, Washington — This month, Robert Wilson, MD, joins Island Primary Care – Orcas from his current position as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at UW Neighborhood Lopez Island Clinic. Prior to this practice, Wilson was a physician and chief at Lopez Island Medical Clinic Island Hospital for 20 years. Wilson brings a love of family and emergency medicine, along with 17 years’ experience as an FAA Aviation Medical Examiner.

Robert Wilson, MD

Wilson earned undergraduate degrees in biochemistry and aeronautical engineering from Seattle University and University of Washington. He obtained a Doctor of Medicine from University of Kansas in 1992 and completed his family medicine residency at University of Washington/St. Peter Hospital in 1995, serving as Chief Resident his final year.

Wilson, who loves cardiology, orthopedics and ophthalmology, said his favorite forum with patients is that of open question and answer as well as true collaboration with patients on managing their health.

As a doctor, I am largely an educator and advisor, so letting the patient drive the subject is important,” he said. People who better understand disease and health are much more motivated to stay healthy.

A proud family man, Wilson loves spending any time he can with his wife, Erica, and his two daughters and their spouses. He served on the Lopez Island School Board for several years. Island Health CEO Elise Cutter is looking forward to welcoming Wilson to the team.

Were fortunate to have Dr. Wilson at the Orcas Clinic. He brings vast experience and a deep sense of care for his patients,” Cutter said.
