Seniors Have Talent, Saturday, January 30 at 6:00. This will be a virtual show that is a collaboration between the Senior Center and the Orcas Center. Folks can tune in virtually at either www.orcasseniors.org or www.orcascenter.org. Didier Gincig is producing the event, and Jake Perrine is doing the video editing. “I would say that this is an exciting first–a virtual collaboration with the Senior Center and the Orcas Center to bring some fun into people’s homes! We have a wide assortment of talent and hope to bring smiles to people’s faces!” says Gincig.
In these challenging times we can create some joy and silver linings by sharing creativity as a gift to the community.

What a delightful show! Thank you, all!
2021 Seniors Have Talent was EXCELLENT !!! For me, it was so much more than a talent show~
You can view it at: https://www.orcasseniors.org/seniors-have-virtual-talent/
I was deeply touched by the program… It demonstrated (reaffirmed for me) something I think we are sorely missing in today’s on-demand / me-first /just-in-time society. Something well known by native folks and all of our original families and tribes. That is: the worth, talent, skills, wisdom of elders, who both preserve the history of those we have never met and spent a lifetime adding their own new learning to the trove of wisdom passed on to future generations.
It also reminded me why I love living on Orcas. It is a community that hasn’t forgotten how to entertain itself… To play, support and appreciate the contributions of neighbors. For years, islanders have “brought something to the party” and never lacked for culture and entertainment.
“Art saves lives.” Yes, and it also gives/creates life. In the performing arts, the performer is really their instrument. It takes a courage to put oneself out there and risk being judged. Conversely it gives everyone in the audience of island neighbors an opportunity to receive and appreciate performers, absolutely perfect just as who they are. That’s a lesson one hopefully learns with age.
Bravo! Brava! Well done !!! Thank you!
I am so glad you decided to have the show, live or virtual. I miss living on the island a great deal, and seeing
a bunch of my old music friend (and getting older, who are we kidding?) doing what they do just touched me deeply.
Sometimes there is just one place for us…wishing all continuing good health.
Oh, I’m in love with Orcas, and Orcasians, all over again!
