Here is a photo of the leis I have made so far…the colors are actually brighter than in this photo.

Coming this May, Orcas Island will once again be hosting Native canoe journeyers from far and wide.  It is traditional to present our guests with gifts.  Given the fact that two of the canoes will be filled with Hawaiians from Maui, we decided to make Hawaiian braided ribbon leis for all of the journeyers.

I have purchased all the ribbon but need many hands to help me make the leis, as we need to make about 100.  I have reserved the community room at the Eastsound Firehall for this coming Tuesday, March 12, and Thursday, March 14, from 1:00 to 4:00.

If you are willing and able to help with this task, please contact me at (h) 360-376-4165, (c) 503-548-7845, or davidgeri@rockisland.com.  All you need to bring is yourself.

If you are planning to attend, it would be very helpful to watch a video demonstration before you come.  Here is the video I watched:

Hope you can help with this.  It should be fun.  Feel free to pass this request on to anyone you know who might be able to help.
