Ensign Harry Patton with his World War II Hellcat fighter

At the next History Matinee, Orcas Island’s own Harry Patton will share some of his early experiences as a naval cadet and flying off aircraft carriers during WWII and later.

Harry and his brother Bob served together in a Naval Reserve Squadron during the 1950s at Sand Point Naval Air Statio, Seattle.

Harry will also discuss the experiences and duties of a Landing Signals Officer, a critical team member in bringing a plane back aboard as well as some of the airplanes he flew: “The Yellow Peril,” Hellcats, Corsairs and more.
