Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Senior Center

GrannysAttic

What fun to poke around Granny’s Attic — and no cobwebs or bumping your head on the rafters, for this “Attic” sale takes place at the easily-accessible Senior Center.

You can find a Chinese planter, a ten-speed bike, a Celestron telescope, rockers and other furniture for kids and grannies too, paintings, tableware, books, a dress form, a beautiful wall clock and at least two pirate ships!

Coordinator for the Senior Center Operation Committee Jane Heisinger says, “We encourage people to come and enjoy the fun the hunt. This event is a great way to support the Senior Center and have fun at the same time.

“Although people are welcome to just drop off checks if they don’t want to shop!

“We have raised over $9,000 at the sale and it is our largest fund raiser of the year. The proceeds go to keeping the Senior Center operational and giving the elders of our island a safe and healthy environment.”

Jane says her her small army of volunteers — Gael Shipstad, Beth Jurgensen, Lise Reinholt, Dorothy Patton, Millie Vetterlein, Shelly  Kinner and Irene O’Neil — have been helping for the last six weeks every Tuesday and are going the extra mile this week.

“We are not taking any more donations at this time unless it is jewelry as we are a little short on that this year. Those can come in anytime until Friday up to noon.

“We do have quite a wonderful selection of furniture, lamps and smaller rugs this year. We always have many smaller items for the kitchen and home and a lovely selection of pictures and frames.”

In addition there are two raffle baskets that will go to the lucky raffle ticket winners on Saturday.

The time is from 10 – 3 this Saturday and people are encouraged to BYOB — bring their own bags. At 2, the furniture and the better items will be at half price and the other items are $5. per grocery bag.
