James McCafferty, Business Advisor for the Economic Development Association of Skagit County, announces a series of free classes in business basics. McCafferty conducted a workshop through the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce and San Juan Islands Economic Development Council last year, and provides follow-up advisory service to interested business owners.

2/8 – Planning and Financing a Business. A three and a half hour odyssey of what it takes to start and maintain a high performing business.  From financing to business plans this is a must do for anyone who has recently started or is considering to launch a business.  FREE! 1:00pm – 4:30pm.  Refreshments provided.

2/10 – Increasing Profits Through Research. Large companies have research departments to help them guide their decisions – you have yourself.  In this session learn what resources you have access to and how to leverage them to increased efficiencies, new customers and a better bottom line.   $10 member, $20 non-members.  Noon – 1:30pm.    Lunch provided.

2/15 – Owning a Successful Business. In this session learn the secrets to a successful business and how to apply them to your venture.  Session presented in partnership with the Sedro Woolley Public Library and held at a soon to be announced location (check www.skagit.org).  FREE!  6:30pm – 8:00pm.
