Mon. Jan 15, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Eastsound Fire Hall
— from Paul Kamin, Eastsound Water Users Association (EWUA) General Manager —
At the Dec 14th annual meeting there was a presentation and discussion of a new rate structure proposal. Unfortunately, the attendance at the Annual Meeting was low.
Through the below link members who were unable to attend the annual meeting can review a PDF copy of the rate structure presentation. Towards the end are specific examples of how the proposed rate structure would impact a variety of different water users. Overall 50% of the membership will pay LESS under the proposed rate structure and 50% will pay more.
Eastsound Water has also scheduled four different meetings in January that specifically address the proposed rate structure. These meetings are all at the Eastsound Fire Hall, and scheduled as follows
Wed. Jan 10, 6:30-8 p.m.
Members who participated in the 2016 “Member Engagement Process” hosted by then Board member Fred Klein.
Mon. Jan 15, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
All residential members
Wed. Jan 17, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Multi-Unit Members and Customers (this group includes Opal Residents, Apartment Complexes, Lover’s Lane Patio Association, Alder Cottages, Alder Forest, and such.)
Wed. Jan 31, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Commercial Members.
You need not RSVP, but if you do, Eastsound Water will do a free comparison of your costs of water service under the existing rates and under the proposed rates.

The graphs are very good! They would have been even better, though, if they had included explanations of the letters that refer to… something: ERU, MU, NR, RES. Please?
The graphics you refer to are part of a presentation intended for the public meetings. The acronyms will be explained at the meeting. The meeting are intended to garner feedback from the membership, which is best done face to face. That is why we are offering 5 different public meetings before the Board adopts any changes. I hope you’ll come one of the meetings, but if not ERU = equivalent residential unit, MU = multi unit, NR = non-residential, and RES = residential.
