Earth Day Orcas is a community celebration of the Salish Sea ecology and exploration of solutions to regional and global environmental and climate challenges. Through Art, Literature, Music, Dance, Ecology, Green & Blue Technology and Sciences, we gather to Celebrate, Explore and Discover.

Join in at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, along the waterfront, and at Odd Fellows Hall in Eastsound on Saturday, April 22. Events for all ages and abilities start at 9am and close at 5pm. See the full activity schedule online.

A big thanks to the wonderful groups coming together to collaborate for this festive celebration on MainStreet and at the Island Innovation Lab at Odd Fellows Hall – this is a powerful demonstration of the ‘Village’ in action!

Spoken Word by WA State Poet Laureate Rena Priest (Lummi), Orcas author Jill McCabe Johnson, Lopez authors Abigail Morgan Prout and Iris Graville, and the Orcas Island Source and Leaping Fool Writers Group. Childrens Storytelling by Jenny de Groot and Caleb Summers. Invocations by Erin Quies Wild.

The Eco-Fair, Art and Spoken word are happening at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Main Street starting at 10am (Invocation at 9:30). The Island Innovation Lab is taking place at Odd Fellows on Haven Lane and opens at 9am; speakers begin 10am. Waterfront activities include a community beach mandala, naturalist guided walks with Friends of the San Juans, and Indian Island interpretive resources with Kwiaht. All Our Relations Invocation is at noon down on the minus tide beach front.
