Each Seaweed Excursion Experience is Unique

There is so much to talk about with seaweeds—from life in the intertidal and sustainable harvesting to medicinal and nutritive properties and ocean activism—each class covers a limited amount of material tailored to the needs and interests of each student group.

What’s more, due to the limitations of each intertidal situation, certain activities will only be offered in certain classes.

For edible seaweed harvesting, join us on the San Juan Island Excursion
For Kelp Pickle making (students will take home a pint jar), join us on Whidbey or Or c as.
For Seaweed Artwork join us on San Juan or Orcas.

All Excursions will include Kelp Lemonade tasting and Mermaid Botanicals T-shirt raffle.

This is a recommended learning opportunity hosted by Kristy Bredin of Mermaid Botanicals. The Guild will periodically share news about suggested workshops and learning experiences hosted by makers across the islands. If you are teaching a class that you’d like to request our support in promoting, this service is offered at no cost thanks to funding by San Juan County LTAC in 2023.
