DVSAS Dinner on June 6 features fine wines from three Washington Vineyards

By Norm Stamper, DVSAS Board President

Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services of the San Juan Islands is hosting its annual Orcas Island fundraising dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 6 at The Inn at Ship Bay.  Chef Geddes Martin has promised an extraordinary meal, featuring wines of the Walla Walla Valley from Abeja Winery, Reininger Winery, and Stephenson Cellars.

In a nod to the economic times, the fundraiser will not be hosting one of those “big auctions,” according to board president Norm Stamper.  “Auctions can be a good way to raise money but we thought, this year, we’d focus on the dinner itself and allow our guests to enjoy a delicious meal and fine wines in the company of new and old friends.”

DVSAS is a non-profit agency whose mission is to prevent and eliminate domestic violence and sexual assault.  “We provide direct, critical services to victims,” said Stamper.  “And we’re also working, through education and community awareness to build islands-wide support for putting an end to all forms of family and dating violence.”
