||| FROM MARCY MONTGOMERY for ORCAS WONDER CAMP |||

The islands are home to amazing artists that you’ve enjoyed and they are now joining a summer camp as teachers, bringing their special gifts, techniques, and magic to small groups of learners.

If you’ve seen them sing, dance, read poetry, or perform, and would like to learn directly from them, Wonder Camp is the perfect chance to take a dive into creative arts and the natural world. We are also introducing indigo dyeing, blacksmithing, and wildcrafted body care product making classes. Field walks include herbalism, mushroom ID, and wilderness survival skills.

Spark your imagination – Lots to explore!

The Camp’s gifted instructors are generously sharing their knowledge and creativity – guitar, drumming, didgeridoo making, dance and movement, wild plant walks, drawing and painting, singing, writing, poetry, and maybe a bit of howling to the wild. Adult and teen, and youth options. Island visitors and local islanders welcome.

Summer Wonder Camp hosts 21 class options plus delicious healthy meals and affordable cabins or tent sites for visitors to the island. Day Camp available to folks already on island. Overnighters enjoy a meal pass and activities Saturday night to Tuesday morning. Day Campers program includes lunch and ala carte meal options.

All participants can enjoy daytime classes and special evening performances. Saturday night features Rafe Perlman, soulful singer and vocalist. Sunday night features wooden flute and hand pan drumming with Burke Mulvany and Josie Dow. Poetry readings with Abigail Morgan Prout and Quinn Bailey share island writing and wellness sounds with Joy Hughes and Hayley Shannon can be learned for take home self-care wellness. A fun Wonder Review wraps up with performances by students and instructors including multi-instrumentalist, Joel Gamble.

All Ages of Wonder Welcome!

Camp registration closes July 30, spaces are first come first serve. Meet Camp instructors and learn more at https://orcaswondercamp.org.
