I am happy to see our Council address this issue proactively. Conflicts of interest regarding Committees have been a perennial issue. The 2012 County Council became aware of unauthorized policy actions by the Marine Resources Committee and our new Winter Council is being attacked for the recent Planning Commission appointment of Tim Blanchard.
Our representatives serve us well by addressing these conflicts promptly. Let’s hope that the outcome of this process is to reestablish our Council’s unique authority over public policy and to ensure the transparency and fairness of Advisory Committees.
I will be attending the meeting and I encourage you to do so as well.
