Hauling garbage off-island is one response to increased tipping fees
New fee goes into effect July 1
On Tuesday, June 14, 2011 the San Juan County Council enacted ordinance No.16 -2011: to increase tipping fees approximately five percent for self-haul customers beginning on July 1, 2011.
The Ordinance, entitled “Setting the Fees for Solid Waste Handling Services Provided by San Juan County and Repealing Ordinance 35-2010” will also increase tipping fees approximately 14 percent for the certificated hauler (San Juan Sanitation) and the Town of Friday Harbor beginning on September 1, 2011.
