Wednesday May 27 at 5:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Parish Hall
— from The Rev. Berto Gándara-Perea —
Adam Lorio, Education Program Manager for the Samish Indian Nation, will join us to share about Tribal Canoe Journey traditions and protocol. Samish and other local tribal canoes will be landing on Orcas during the summer of 2015.
Adam is a member of the Samish Canoe Family and participated in the Journey to Quinault in 2013. He believes sharing with local communities is important to foster deeper connections and understanding our community relationships through time.
Join us for a short slide show and discussion. Free and open to all.

It’s too bad that the ferry schedule does not allow other islanders (eg. Lopez) to attend. I am so glad this is happening: the Samish have been so generous in their sharing. Perhaps Mr. Lorio will consider additional talks in the future on other islands.
Thank you Reverend for organizing this act of understanding.
